Shaun Foster
is an Associate Professor of 3D Digital Design at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. with over 20 years of experience in 3D graphics and interactive educational design, He received his Masters in Fine Arts at RIT in 2002. He worked at 4 Directions Productions as manager of Animation and was also Lead Effects Artist there, working on multiple award winning, national and regional TV, advertising and the highly successful 3D animated short “Raccoon and Crawfish”. Shaun developed two educational multimedia exhibits for museums prior to joining RIT. He published Integrating 3D Modeling, Photogrammetry and Design (Springer 2014). He published a chapter on design and technology convergence Media Convergence Handbook - Vol. 2 (Springer 2016) Foster has spoken the last 4 years at the International SIGGRAPH conference. Foster has published two training series with Pluralsight and also has a successful YouTube channel. He has several grants dealing with next generation interactive technologies; including Kinect and Augmented Reality tourism as well as Digital Humanities 3D interactive Asylum reconstruction and the Augmented Reality Tourism app Flip For History. He was a co-investigator on a NSF BioFuel Education game grant (2015). Shaun received a HTC Vive grant from Epic Games (2016). VR Cary Archive “Breakthrough” Grant (2017), URMC Steroid Pathways Grant (2018), Provost learning & Innovation Grant (2018-19), Epic MegaGrant (2019) “edX Unreal Foundations”, and Epic MegaGrant (Co-Pi) Virtual Production and Previs (2020).
